Grip’s Pull List for 07-16-08
Hey there. How are you? Good, I’m so glad to hear that. I missed you last week. I know, I know…we don’t see enough of each other as it is. But I had to go out of town on business. I’m sure you understand. You don’t? Oh, you’re just being coy. You do understand, I knew you would! But enough of these pleasantries. I know why you’re here. Let’s talk about what I have in my bag, shall we? Look inside, my pretty. Look at all the beautiful things. Such lovely little things. That’s right, come closer. Just a bit closer. There, there.
GOTCHA!!!! OK, let’s talk comics, you sick twist. I did miss a week, and it had a few good books. Secret Invasion, Final Crisis Requiem, Captain America: White, some other shit. I don’t remember. What’s done is done. You went to the shop and bought what you bought, so it’s over. That was last week.
What’s up this week? Comics, that’s what’s up. Where have you been? No, I know where I’ve been, where have you been? Sigh…this is getting us nowhere. Let’s just get into the stacks.
This Wednesday looks pretty slim for little old me, but here’s what I’m looking forward to. Captain America #40 continues a book that you should have been reading since two years ago, but there’s a fresh omnibus from a few months back that will catch you up real good if you have a hundo to blow on it. Hot beans.
Marvel 1985 #3 drops, and hopefully Millar and Co. keep up the good work on this interesting tale of two worlds (ours and Marvel’s) colliding. So far, it’s been an enjoyable read, always near the top of my pile when it comes out.
Lastly (unless something else catches my eye), we have Mighty Avengers #16. Bendis. Avenging. A winning combination. Usually. Don’t blow it, ya’ll. And what happened to Daredevil’s face? Weird cover…he better not be a fucking Skrull. I will go madass on everybody up there in the editing bay, I swear to God.
Well, to quote Mel Blanc, that’s all, folks (what a genius quote). It’s been real. Until next week, try to entertain yourself. I’ll be catching up on Ed Brubaker’s Criminal, having just purchased the third trade. If it’s as good as the first two, I’m in for quite a ride. And that’s what she said.
Bagged and boarded,
GR2
