Comics are off the hook, son! I know they have their ups and downs from week to week, and I haven’t been as deep in the stacks as I’d like to be lately (too busy getting my new bootleg mixtape up on this very website)…but all said, it’s a good time for colored paper. So let’s get to this week’s list, shall we? We shall.
Well, well, a new issue of Daredevil. I have loved this book for a long time now…and while Bendis’ run is uncontestable, Brubaker was the perfect choice to carry the torch when BMB left. He seems to specialize in exploring the legacy of crime and punishment in his characters’ lives, whether in Captain America, Criminal, or books like this–Daredevil #109, which focuses on Matt Murdock’s attempt to free an innocent man (well, sort of) from Death Row (and not the record label). I look forward to it.
New Avengers #43 continues with the Secret Invading and all. Should be good. Oddly, Secret Invasion seems to have left the most interesting parts of its story to be told in the pages of Bendis’ other Avengers books. Since I also read those, it’s all good. if you don’t, though, Secret Invasion might leave you scratching your head. Not me, however. I’m totally in the know. Totally.
Uncanny X-Men hits milestone issue #500 (!!) with a variant cover by bespectacled painter-guy Alex Ross, and a regular cover I won’t bother to post. The X-Men have moved to Frisco (presumably to see more rec-League shows), and Magneto is coming to welcome them. Or something. I don’t really read this book, but issue 500, you know? I might get it.
Now, this might be a bit of a disappointment, as Thunderbolts #122 is the first issue in the new creative team’s arc. it might be great, but Ellis and Deodato made this into a really memorable book…let’s hope the new crew can keep it up.
Uh-oh. Another roster change. And on another one of my favorite titles. Well, I’ll cop Immortal Iron Fist #17, but if it lets me down, I will never forgive it. Ever. This was a good book. Maybe it still is. We’ll see.
Alright, squad. That’s it. Comics are done. Now go buy some hip-hop so we can all continue to have so-called careers. I hear the Nas album is pretty good. Maybe you’d like that. Until next time…
Bagged and boarded,

that simpsons picture is off the hook.
the new story line in x-men… they all go to San Francisco so they can “be themselves” where they won’t be persecuted for “being different”. gay is the new black.
