Rec-League All-Stars in the building once again, bringing you another fresh edition of Chart Toppers! As is often the case with popular music, there ain’t a whole lot of new tunes this week in the old Number One Spot. Mostly familiar faces whose songs I’ve already demolished. But there is a band who just hit number one with a bullet, making this their FIFTH album to debut at the top of the charts. That album is Death Magnetic, and that band is the seventh biggest selling act in US history, heavy metal monsters Metallica. Their lead single is the 8-minute crusher The Day That Never Comes. And as a little twist, I’ve chopped up basically just the first thirty seconds of the song and thrown it over some 808s. I call it a remix, on account of I added the synths and strings and shit. Plus, I rap on it. But really, it’s a loving tribute to Metallica and their headbanging kin, and I hope you’ll go out and buy the new Metallica album DEATH MAGNETIC or something, because I don’t want them to think I’m possibly infringing on their copyright with anything but the utmost respect. I hear they’ve had problems with that in the past.

In addition to flipping the script on the instrumental this week, I’ve also hired a helper monkey to edit some still images together and punch up the so-called “video” I usually post. The end results have been mixed, and it turns out you get the same quality of work from a legitimately hired monkey as you do from one you capture and force to work for free. And that quality is none. Still, I got some cute pictures of him using the mouse. So it wasn’t a total loss. Now go watch the dang video already!
