I thought the Devin album was kind of a miss (as a whole). And I really like Devin a lot. All things being said, the Heltah Skeltah album was my favorite thing that happened to people in 2008 (maybe it’s tied with the election of President Barry).

Fuck…my memory sux. I don’t even remember what came out last year. But Drought 6 is fire! Landing Gear is one of my favorites, Dirt is insane! ( A Little inside I know)The new Luda is really dope…and…ughh…Diplomatic immunity! Had to throw it in for good measure. Oh yeah Carter 3!

In a year where no rap really inspired me, I would say the Roots, Heltah Skeltah, and Atmosphere were the best things I heard. T.I. and Nas were pretty good also.
Raphael Saadiq is at the top of my list, along with Duffy – Rockferry.
The Common and Kanye albums sucked, IMO. I didn’t really buy into the Q-Tip hype, although there were a few joints I liked. I still need to listen to the new Scarface.

The shit I listened to last year probably came out the year before, because that’s how hip and “with it” I am. But two albums that got major play from me were Rhymefest’s “Man in the Mirror” (I think it came out in December 2007) and “What the Fuck is a Jay Electronica?” by…well, you know. These two mixtapes were far better than most of the real albums I heard.
