Grip’s Pull List For 01/14/09

Another Nazi paint party broken up by the Gay Ghost!! Old comics are awesome. But what about the new ones? Well, this week I only have a couple books on the list. So let’s make it quick, and maybe you can still get in a few rounds of disc golf today…bro.
Final Crisis #6: I sure do like those Final Crisis covers. This one has Batman on it. Since I got to the Grant Morisson Batman party too late, and I still haven’t read Batman R.I.P., I’m hoping this book doesn’t have too many spoilers. But I bet it’s all spoilers. Oh, well. This one has Batman on it.
Action Comics #873: It won’t be long before the good folks at DC bring us Action Comics #900. 900!!! Take that, Final Crisis #6. Six? That ain’t shit. Anyway, while were still stuck on AC 873, I’ll try to enjoy the closing moments of this New Krypton storyline (it is almost over, right?). The operative word here is try.
Punisher War Zone #5: This coda to Garth Ennis’ classic “Welcome Back, Frank” has been moving along at a nice clip, with a new book every week or two. Probably better if you read that earlier arc (much earlier…it came out nine years ago). But still a good yarn. Ennis writes the Punisher as a more-or-less remorseless psychopath, and the body counts here are pretty staggering. Full of creative new ways to dispatch your victims, the pages of the Punisher Max series provided the source material for the upcoming Punisher War Zone film. So start your research here. Wait, not here. Read the nine years’ worth of preamble first. Good luck with that.
OK, pals. That’s all I got. Slim pickings this week, but it’s fine with me. I got other things to do (cue menacing music). Yes…other things indeed.
Until next time…
Keep it bagged and boarded,
Grip
