When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time in detention and being on punishment. Needless to say, the two kinda go hand in hand. Anyway, as with any disenfranchised member of society, my time spent in incarceration led me to discover a penchant for writing. I couldn’t remember how many stories I’ve written total, but some of the more famed titles include: The One Black Hunchback, My Name is Stupid, and Adams Apology to Jesus (a story told from Adams perspective, in letter form, explaining how Eve forced him to eat the apple, and as punishment, Jesus should make women bare children in the most painful way possible).  However, no work more successful than a self-help book I wrote in the seventh grade called, The Things We Do: My Guide to Making Your Life Better. It was roughly 20 pages of hand written/hand drawn literary gold. I made copies and sold it for $1 to all my moms friends, all the faculty and staff at my school, my soccer coaches and anybody I thought had a dollar to spend. I was beyond certain that book would make it into book stores the world over. Well…it didn’t. But my freakin’ bummy anus rap album did! Neighborhood Kid, now available at Barnes & Nobles Bookstores!

Noble employee, John, hookin’ it up at the first B&N store to carry the album, in Fayettville, NC. Next stop, the world! And then…maybe Vermont.

Look, Im not trying to be “that guy,” y’know…”that” guy. The guy who’s always posting videos of himself. That guy sucks. But I thought this was important. However, if you see that guy, tell him Haji said what up. He can be cool when he wants to be.

In the weeks leading up to the release of Neighborhood Kid, RoutineFly.com and Haji P released a serries of songs called Home Repair, which were songs recorded durring the Neighborhood Kid sessions but are not on Neighborhood Kid. Well, here we are…a mere twenty days from the release of the album; pending the date you actually read this. In which case, its up to you to do the math, and we’re a mere_____ day(s) from the release of the album. In any event, I can only imagine you’re waiting with bated breath, and the anticipation is a real dickwad. Thats how I feel too. But what exactly are you waiting for? Just another rap album? Just another combination of beats intermingled with some cute lil’ wordy words? Absolutely! This, similar to most rap albums, is just an imposition of the authors presumed life relevancy, masked behind a series of jovial rhythms and a mildly decent application of a number of literary devices. However, and I quote, *ahem* “This sh*t right here, nigga! This sh*t right here…” This sh*t right here is faaaantastic!

I didn’t attempt to break any musical barriers with this album, or preserve the culture with lyrics dispelling tales of head spinnies, biker shorts or the luminous shine of my third-eye’s soul…that junk is so Bahamadea. Instead, I had fun with it. I wrote some raps that I thought were pretty amusing. If you cant fox with that, its totally cool. You and the rest of your sour patch friends can go sit in a circle and play Duck, Duck, Sad Face.

However, if you enjoy a good ditty about nomadic wandering, misadventure, and lighthearted/ambiguously racist commentary, narrated by an Uncle Remus like voice…well, hot damn have I got something for you!

You may recognize this weeks installment of Home Repair as the opening sequence to the widely unpopular web series, “So Freakin Regular.” A series in which, similar to the song itself, is a painfully mundane walk through a plain grass field of normalcy. *Yawn*.
