There are a LOT of amazing musicians out here in SF. We have been blessed to do shows with a lot of them and it seems like in the last month a whole bunch of people dropped videos… Hey we even dropped a video. And if they didn’t drop a video last month, then they dropped a video at some point. I really wish i was more on my game and could give each of these videos their own shine. While the legendary Guru makes what is hopefully a swift recovery following his recent heart attack, I wanted to show my support for one of my favorite artists during this difficult time. Hence, the song above. Very few groups have been as influential to hip-hop, and to myself personally, as Guru, DJ Premier, and the monumental Gang Starr foundation. In reverence of my previous environs, the extremely kind folks at The Fold Clothing remixed my “Home” logo and affixed it to an all american made, cut and sew t-shirt. Thats some classy ish. Designed by graphic artist/ music & film producer D1, this coveted piece of cool people clothing celebrates some good ol’ southern, backwoods, countryfied, greens ‘n grits goodness. Yeah, you like that. Dont you? I hope you do. If not, what do you know about gear anyway? You probly still wear Fubu jereseys and Jnco pants. Loser.

I don’t remember if I ever put this up here, but the amount I care about that is dwindling even as I type. I did this track way back while recording at the Look Records Masterplex. As you may recall, I put down a couple of verses over some at-that-time-unreleased Madlib beats. One of them got sampled by Madlib for his Percee P remix project, while the other was thrown into the vaults, never to be heard from again. Until now…or until whatever earlier time I already played you this cut. But you get the idea. Enjoy the following one-verse non-song over a famous producer’s beat that may have since been used by someone for something else!

The day is finally here.. Richie Cunning’s Night Train has arrived. The release party was SOLD OUT at the Elbo Room on Jan 15th. Needless to say we’re welcome back there any time. 2010 started off with a serious bang. We’re aiming for more sold out crowds… more music and more Rec-League in general. Congratulations are in order to Richie for all his hard work, both on the album and making this show happen. The Son Of The City has made a mark for sure.

Hey do you like awesome hip hop? Me too! Thank god for Denton’s own, Rec-League South representative, Fab Deuce. The trio is back with their 3rd album “Deuce Knuckle”. Produced mostly by Pudge, Lone & Juicy The Emissary with one joint produced by Richie Cunning. The record has the familiar up-tempo Fab Deuce sound and mixes in some slower more deliberate funk driven songs. But what about the rhymes? Every verse on this album is action packed, never slacking on style, confident, intelligent unique and always hype. With shades of The Pharcyde, Boot Camp Click, Jurassic 5 or any other mixture of talented MC’s with very different styles working together flawlessly. The three main MC’s, Pudge, Lone & Cheesey Blaine hold the entire album down, joined on “Funky Mother Hole” by QM, and letting Juicy The Emissary out from behind the boards and to the mic on “2nd To None”. They have a record release party in Denton on Dec. 26th and the album will be availalable for sale here on Routine Fly as well as iTunes soon after. For now, enjoy these two gems and keep your eyes peeled for Fab Deuce.
